I think it’s Christmas, you guys! December 23, 2009
If I am to believe the utter chaos on Dowlen Road, it ought to be about Christmas time.
Tomorrow I leave for Ohio, where I will watch hours of the Christmas Story marathon with my little sisters, hit my old college bars with journalism school friends, track down some Great Lakes Christmas Ale and enjoy the Christmas wonderland that is Marblehead, Ohio.
While I’m imbibing all the cheese balls and Eliot Ness I can fit into one week, go out and pick yourself up the last of Saint Arnold’s Christmas Ale, because once it’s off the shelves, it’s gone for the year.
Luckily the folks at Saint Arnold’s released their Winter Stout this week.
So eat, drink and be merry! … but not too merry.
Balcones Distillery comes to Beaumont December 17, 2009
SETX-born Steve Germer is returning to Beaumont this weekend to greet folks Saturday at the Beaumont Specs where he will be sampling spirits from Austin’s Balcones Distillery.
The guys at Balcones have created Texas’ first legal whiskies since prohibition and I can’t wait to sample them, especially the Baby Blue whiskey made from blue corn.
